== The Experiment == According to the anecdote, a scientist proposed an experiment to a man who was sentenced to death by guillotine. The agreement was that after the man was executed, he would attempt to blink his eyes as a signal to indicate whether he was still conscious or aware of his surroundings after the decapitation. === Execution and Results === On the day of the execution, the man was beheaded, and the scientist reportedly observed the head for signs of consciousness. It is said that the head exhibited reflexive movements, including blinking, which raised questions about the duration of consciousness after death. However, the scientific validity of this anecdote is highly debated, and it remains more of a philosophical discussion than a rigorously tested hypothesis.
